Welcome to Module 2: Building a Balanced Diet
In this module, we will explore the key principles of a healthy, balanced diet, which is crucial for maintaining good health and preventing chronic diseases. A balanced diet is one that provides the body with all the essential nutrients it needs in the right amounts and includes a variety of foods from all the major food groups.
In Lesson 1, we have already explored the five food groups and the importance of incorporating each of them into your diet. In Lesson 2, we will introduce the MyPlate, a visual representation of the five food groups and an easy way to ensure you’re getting all the nutrients your body needs.
In Lesson 3, we will discuss the importance of making healthy food choices and how to incorporate them into your daily routine. We will also explore strategies for eating healthy while dining out, and how to make healthy food choices when shopping for groceries.
In Lesson 4, we will dive deeper into the topic of nutrients and explore the difference between macro and micro-nutrients. We will discuss the functions of these nutrients in the body and how to make sure you’re getting enough of them in your diet.
By the end of this module, you will have a solid understanding of what a balanced diet looks like and how to build one that is right for you. You will also have the knowledge and tools to make healthier food choices and maintain a balanced diet for optimal health and well-being.
