Fitness trackers are great for keeping track of metrics related to your health and fitness that we sometimes cannot track ourselves easily. Some of the metrics are crucial to improve your health and fitness, and some are just important to follow to know on average how much activity you get in one day.

Three of the metrics I have followed most over the years are

  • how much sleep I get
  • the quality of my sleep
  • how many calories I burn on average per day

Fitbit trackers

Fitbit tracker

A Fitbit tracker is a great tool I have been recommending to people to use for years. I now recommend these to those who do not have an apple phone. I enjoy that it is light on my wrist, and I hardly notice it.

A Fitbit tracker and app will track your

  • steps per day
  • distance per day
  • calories burned per day
  • sleep (duration and quality)
  • water intake per day

Apple watch

Apple watch

If I had an apple phone, I would purchase an Apple watch to track my fitness. Apple watches are incredibly versatile on what it provides to its users in its health and fitness apps.

An apple watch and its fitness/health/sleep apps will track your

  • how much exercise you get per day
  • distance per day
  • your cardio fitness per day
  • the pace you ran that day (if you ran)
  • your walking pace per day
  • how long you stand per day
  • how long you stand per hour
  • your heart rate
  • whether or not you have any irregular heartbeat rhythms
  • has an electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor heart conditions
  • monitor falls
  • duration of sleep
  • respiratory rate

If you already track your fitness in other ways or do not want to, that is fine. I just wanted you to know about some apps that track these essential aspects of your health and wellness during your journey. I have always used the Fitness App because it integrates with The MyFitnessPal App.
